从前有个故事，一个人偷窃入狱，出狱后获得了街坊的支持和关心，他深受感动，决定从此改过自新好好做人。直到有一次，邻居大姐出门忘带了钥匙，水还在锅里煮着，情急之中找会开锁的他帮忙，他帮人心切也就破了自己再也不开锁的戒。邻里街坊看着他利落地开锁都说多亏了有他，大姐也是握着他的手一再感谢。但是过了几天他发现，街坊邻居的门都默默加了新锁，他沉默良久，从那里搬走了。言语可以动人，但现实行动才体现真实想法。信任不易，要给请真心，得到请珍惜。
Forgiveness Depends on the Action
原谅靠行动
Once, Edison and his assistants made a light bulb, which was the result of their hard work around the clock.
有一次，爱迪生和他的助手们制作了一只电灯泡。那是他们辛苦工作了一天一夜的劳动成果。
Then, Edison made a young apprentice carry it to another lab upstairs. The apprentice received the light bulb from Edison’s hands, and then went step by step on the stairs carefully, for fear that the new stuff would drop from his hands. But the more he thought in this way, the more nervous he felt, so his hands couldn’t help trembling. When he reached the top of the stairs, the light bulb finally fell on the ground.
随后，爱迪生让一名年轻学徒将其拿到楼上另一个实验室。这名学徒从爱迪生手里接过灯泡，小心翼翼地一步一步走上楼梯，生怕手里的这个新玩意儿滑落。但他越是这样想，心里就越紧张，手也禁不住哆嗦起来。当走到楼梯顶端时，灯泡最终还是意外地掉在了地上。
Edison didn’t blame this apprentice.
爱迪生没有责备这名学徒。
Some days later, Edison and his assistants made a light bulb again with one day and night. When done, it had to be taken upstairs. Even without thinking, Edison handed it over to the apprentice who had dropped the first light bulb on the ground previously. This time, the apprentice carried the light bulb upstairs safe and sound.
过了几天，爱迪生和助手们又用一天一夜的时间制作出一只电灯泡。做完后，还得有人把灯泡送到楼上去。爱迪生连想都没想，就将它交给了那名先前将灯泡掉在地上的学徒。这一次，这个学徒安安稳稳地把灯泡拿到了楼上。
Afterwards, someone asked Edison, “It’s enough to forgive him, but why did you hand the light bulb to him? What would you do if it dropped on the ground again?”
事后，有人问爱迪生：“原谅他就够了，何必再把灯泡交给他拿呢？万一又掉在地上怎么办？”
Edison replied, “To forgive is not only to talk about it, but depends on the action.”
爱迪生回答说：“原谅不是光说说而已，而是要靠行动。”
