1.且夫水之积也不厚，则其负大舟也无力。
If the water is not deep enough, it cannot have the power to carry a large ship.
如果积聚的水不够深，那么它就不可能有承载一艘大船的力量。
2.覆杯水于坳堂之上，则芥为之舟。置杯焉则胶，水浅而舟大也。

3.风之积也不厚，则其负大翼也无力。
If the accumulated wind is not strong enough, there will be no great power to carry a pair of huge wings.
如果积聚的风不够强大的话，那么就不会有巨大的力量，去承载一对巨大的翅膀。
4.故九万里则风斯在下矣，而后乃今培风；背负青天而莫之夭阏 者，而后乃今将图南。
