时间飞逝，转眼又快到中国传统佳节——元宵节（Lantern Festival）了。
Lantern 是“灯笼，提灯”的意思，由于元宵节又被称作“灯节”，翻译过来就成了“Lantern Festival”了。
元宵节的来历
Lantern Festival, as a traditional festival in China, has a long history.
元宵节作为我国的传统佳节，由来已久。
It dates back to the Han Dynasty.
(元宵节)起源于汉朝。
Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first lunar month, which marks the end of New Year festivities.
元宵节是农历的元月十五，标志着新年庆祝的结束。
The first month of the lunar calendar is known as the 元月(yuan yue). And in ancient China, the night was referred to as 宵 (xiao). So when the first full moon rolls around, this night is accordingly known as 元宵。
农历的一个月被称作“元月”。然后在古代中国，夜晚被称作“宵”。所以当第一个月圆之夜到来的时候，这个晚上就被称作了“元宵”。
元宵节有哪些习俗
月十五闹元宵，作为一年中第一个月圆之夜，元宵节自然免不了要“赏月”啦！
那么大家知道赏月的英文是什么吗？
Admiring the Full Moon 赏月
因为元宵节的月亮是满月，所以这里用的英文单词是Full Moon（满月）。
除了要赏月，元宵节还非常流行吃“元宵”和“汤圆”。
两个词的英文很简单，采用的是直译（音译）。
南方人吃汤圆 Tangyuan,
而北方人吃元宵 Yuanxiao .
有些地方，还会有挂灯笼（Hanging lanterns），猜灯谜（Guessing Lantern Riddles），赏花灯（Enjoying Lanterns ）等习俗。
