Question : Habits, Customs and Traditions - How Are They Different?
今天的知识点讲的是，Habits, Customs and Traditions都有什么不同？
不得不说这个问题确实是个好问题，因为很多同学确实分不太清楚。因为这三个单词都与重复某动作有关。
Traditions
（一）Habits, Customs 和 Traditions的明显不同
① traditions and customs是由许多人在很长的一段时间都在做的一个动作，偏正式的传统和习俗。比如唐代著名诗人王维在重阳节时呤诗 “独在异乡为异客,每逢佳节倍思亲”。中秋节Mid-Autumn Festival 吃月饼mooncake等，传统更多的讲具有一定的仪式感。
② habit则是一种非正式的，通常仅限于一个人的习惯性动作。
（二）traditions 和 customs的区别
① Traditions的意思是传统，更多的是指节日传统。比如在美国，感恩节上与大家一起分享火鸡就是一个传统。
Sharing a meal with turkey is a Thanksgiving tradition in the United States.
或者说在我国春节放烟花也是一个传统。
Fireworks are part of China's Spring Festival tradition.

② Customs的意思是习俗，也就是习惯风俗，一般来讲这种风俗近代才产生的习惯，或者只有少部分人在使用的习惯。Customs习俗不像春节那样，具有一定的历史文化背景。比如在工作场合，与客户初次见面需要握手示意。
In the workplace, it is the custom to shake people's hands when you first meet them.
比如祖父母习惯夏天在湖里游泳，现在我姑姑、叔叔、父母等都喜欢在湖里游泳，最终，每年夏天去湖里游泳就成了我们家的习俗。
For sixty years, my grandparents had a custom of swimming in the lake on the first day of summer. Now my aunts, uncles, cousins and parents do it, too. ‘Summer swim' is our family tradition.

（三）Habits的区别
与Traditions和Customs具有的明显不同是，Habit只是针对一个人说的习惯。指一个人周期性的重复某一个动作或做一个事情。比如有洁癖的人可能就会频繁洗手，比如我就特别期望你们能养成每天7点看《百天英语》的习惯。
