上周7月翻译群做了一份文学翻译，提到了文学翻译里比较常见的明喻暗喻的处理。
很多人可能还不太明确明喻与暗喻的区别，找到这张图，比较清晰：
当时练习里有个句子是这样的：
岁月像一条永远流淌不尽的河，生命是河边数不清的沙，我们是幼稚却不自以为自己幼稚的玩沙的孩子。
中文都美得不要不要的。
这句话里出现了好几处比喻，有的地方可以处理成隐喻，有的地方可以处理成明喻。
我觉得自己像一个天真的玩沙的孩子：I would say I’m no more a naive child playing with sand. 这就是隐喻。
还有这一句也可以写成隐喻，将时光和河流直接划上等号，做同位语：
The river Time that is flowing on and on incessantly
还有这句也可以是隐喻：
生命是河边数不清的沙：life is the uncountable sand on the banks of the river
如果要写成明喻，那么就可以用as if, feel like, be like。

我经常看文学作品的双语，常常沉醉于字里行间描绘出的唯美意境。读优质的双语，感觉是在看译者和原作者之间的对话。你这样写，我这样解读，一来一去，这其中的思想交流，只可意会，难以言传。
对明喻暗喻的处理更是如此。功底深厚的翻译大概可算是原作者素昧平生的知己，你不必把话说透，而我却能读透你内心的一言一语。这便是默契吧。

原文没有出现毛毛雨，但是drizzle却能体现中文的朦胧、很有节制。
原文没有暴风雨，但是storm能体现原文的轰轰烈烈。
原文没有微风，但是breeze能体现扑面而来。
还有朱自清的《荷塘月色》：
叶子出水很高，像亭亭的舞女的裙。
Leaves rose high out of the water like the flared skirts of dancing girls.
弯弯的杨柳的稀疏的倩影，却又像画在荷叶上。
the sparse, graceful shadows of willows seemed painted on the lotus leaves.
月光如流水一般，静静地泄在这一片叶子和花上。薄薄的青雾浮起在荷塘里。椰子和花仿佛在牛乳中洗过一样；又像笼着轻纱的梦。
Moonlight cascaded like water over the lotus leaves and flowers, and a light blue mist floating up from the pool made them seem washed in milk or caught in a gauzy dream.
塘中的月色并不均匀，但光与影有着和谐的旋律，如梵婀玲上奏着的名曲。
The moonlight on the pool was not uniform, but light and shadow made up a harmonious rhythm like a beautiful tune played on a violin.
“名曲”二字并未直译，译者将其理解为光与影的和谐交错，所以用harmonious rhythm将二者结合起来。
